I must stop living in denial that one day that will be me. Glad your experience was short-lived and you are back home again.

Glad that you’re back in the kingdom of the well, Philip. I was a bit worried when you skipped The Endgame for a bit.

I do want to note that our medical care system, though still reasonably good, is heading downhill in a hurry … and not through chance or mere negligence, I might add.

Sadly, more and more of the elderly that I have personally known have gone the assisted death route, terrified of the experiences they have had in the “Emergency Rooms” and not willing to head that way again.

I’m so pleased you are back!I find the nurses, nursing assistants to be educated and caring.

They really lift your spirits in a terrible time.

I sense you have nearly returned to your flinty self.I expect more comparisons with King Charles and his health issues.

Ah , so glad you are on the mend .

I spent 7 days in the kingdom of the sick last year so I know of what you speak . I was in the hall two nights then the 5th resident in a room made for 4 for 5 nights.

Despite the dreary, noisy environs and inedible food I found the medical staff were outstanding, explaining everything , checking in frequently and quick to do a series of tests . I was grateful.

That sounds a wretched experience. Glad you are home and on the mend.

They must have sent you to Mt Sinai. I was put in a room with a woman who talked into the watch on her wrist non stop. I finally hollered at her to shut up and stop abusive language to the staff I begged to be let out of there as I recovered from emergency surgery. The put me in a ward next to a woman with COVID and it made its way through the family and stuck me into an isolated room for weeks with no rehab. Fifteen months later I am still in recovery.

We are certainly blessed to have dedicated doctors, nurses and all the support workers that make our health care system function and restore our health through their training supported by years of research, unspeakable human suffering and billions of dollars. Taxpayer funded health care for all is such a gift of humanity. So thankful.

Hospitals are certainly a center for appreciation. No matter what your condition there is always someone who is worse off than you and someone else that you can help with a word of kindness.

We must consider the feeling if you or your family were being extorted for money for a cure, that only they could provide, whilst suffering helplessly?

We must balance that with the reality that there must be a reason that all life ends.
